I'm posting this here in the Intel boards thread because I'm mainly interested in boards with Intel CPU, however I'm assuming that my question will also be relevant to AMD users...
Basically is there somesort of table which would help us decipher the model number of the various boards on offer and tell us what the different codes mean?
take the above named board the GA-Z68XP-UD3P, this is the board I have my eye on currently for a new build, but apart from price I'm finding it awkward to discern what sets it apart from say a Z68A-UD3 or a Z68X-UD4 etc.
this is the list of Z68 boards currently listed on scan.co.uk
GA-Z68A-D3-B3
GA-Z68A-D3H-B3
GA-Z68AP-D3
GA-Z68MA-D2H-B3
GA-Z68MX-UD2H-B3
GA-Z68X-UD3-B3
GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3
GA-Z68X-UD3P-B3
GA-Z68X-UD4-B3
GA-Z68X-UD5-B3
GA-Z68X-UD7-B3
GA-Z68XP-UD3
GA-Z68XP-UD3-iSSD
GA-Z68XP-UD3P
GA-Z68XP-UD4
GA is the easiest part - Gigabyte
Z68 is the Intel Chipset associated with the board, but what do A/AP/MA/MX/X/XP suffixes mean?
D2/3 or UD3/4/5/7 what is this and what do the H/P suffixes mean?
B3 - what does this mean?
iSSD - I know this means integrated (or included at least) Solid State Drive
if anyone can shed any light on this I would be eternally grateful
