P67A D3 B3 f4 version - slow boot till post screen!!
« on: September 19, 2011, 04:03:35 pm »
Hello i recently bought this very good motherboard and i had no problems at all. It was running with F1 version on bios. I thought that it was good to upgrade to bios F4 since its the most recent so i did the whole procedure succesfully. From that moment and on i noticed that it takes the double time to show me the post screen (from 10 secs went to 20 secs). Everything else working like before. So i said to myself that this might get caused because the backup bios is on F1 version. So i updated the backup bios with the F4 version succesfully. I did the whole procedure with clear cmos and optimized defaults.

This is happening to every F4 bios versions or just in mine?

Any solutions of how can i make it boot faster like before?

Thanks in advance.

Hi

The only options I can think of are to make sure that there is no floppy drive enabled and the splash screen etc is disabled. Also enable quickboot.

No i dont have floppy at all. I like splash screen dont want to disable it!!!!

Where can i find quickboot? Is it risky for the machines stability?

No not at all. It only shortens the checking time of the memory.

Well i figured out what is going on with the slow boot!.... When i press the power button the system starts and after 5-6 seconds in black screen and before post/splash screen its restarting again for no reason. You have to be very good in ears to listen that the pc restarts because the motherboard's speaker makes a specific little sound every time i manually restart my system, fans and leds are working during this resart!

Normally its suppose to do 5-6 secs to show me the post and splash screen but instead of that it restarts again and makes double the time which is about 10-12 secs to show me post and splash screen and hear the 1 beep. Which is pretty slow. After that it boots windows very fast and the system is very stable

Any idea what causes this restart?

im using bios version F4 on both main and backup bios!

i want to add that ive tried by removing the cable from the psu press the power button to release the saved voltage, plugg the cord back in and start the machine, still the same auto restart thing...

There is nothing wrong with the best versions in general. I run them all the time without any problems. You have the Backup BIOS to fall back on if there was a problem anyway.

The next thing to try is to clear the CMOS. Please follow these instructions exactly.

Remove the power cable from the mains supply and then press the power switch on the case for a few seconds just to drain any residual energy in the PSU capacitors.

Once done remove the motherboard battery for at least one hour before replacing it.

Next plug back into the mains supply and boot.

You will now need to enter the BIOS by pressing DEL and load Optimised BIOS Defaults.

Make any other changes to the BIOS settings to suit your self like disabling the floppy drive, disabling the full screen logo and making the HDD the primary boot device and then press F10 to save and exit.
