GA-Z68X-UD3P-B3 slow post

It takes about 10 seconds for Z68X-UD3P-B3 to show the POST screen after pressing the power button. Is this normal? I've tried different components, everything except the graphics card, and it's always the same. Also enabling 'Quick Boot' doesn't change anything. It's the same at stock speeds and when overclocking.

It's not cycling/rebooting.

This is not a big deal, but it's silly that it takes 3x more time for the board to initialize than for the OS to load . Older boards I had were much quicker in this respect.

Is there any way to improve this?

Hi

Gigabyte motherboards do take a little longer than many other makes to run POST but it shouldn't be as long as ten seconds. I would suggest clearing the CMOS first in case there is something lingering there that is slowing it down.

Remove the power cable from the mains supply and then press the power switch on the case for a few seconds just to drain any residual energy in the PSU capacitors.

Once done remove the motherboard battery for at ten minutes before replacing it.
 
Next plug back into the mains supply and boot.
 
You will now need to enter the BIOS by pressing DEL and load Optimised BIOS Defaults.

Make any other changes to the BIOS settings to suit your self like disabling the floppy drive, disabling the full screen logo and making the HDD the primary boot device and then press F10 to save and exit.

If that doesn't help try removing all the memory apart from one stick and see if that makes it quicker.

I've tried pretty much everything you suggested - reinstalled cpu, tried different ram and drives, removed drives, removed/disabled/unplugged almost everything, cleared cmos.. Last thing I'll try is a different graphics card.

Maybe it really is that slow. If someone is using the same board, please post how long does this step last for your board.
