GA-EX58-Extreme is not booting.

Upon power, the speaker "clicks" (the sound it might make if you just applied a DC voltage to it), all LED's in the CPU meter on the mother board come on full, all the fans start up (CPU fan, etc.).

It stays this way for about 3 or 4 seconds, and then it powers down. About 3 or 4 seconds later is repeats the power up attempt. This cycle will continue forever without me ever having to touch the power button except for the first time.

I've tried removing the memory, reseating the CPU, and the behavior is identical. I don't have video, beep... Is like a loop.

If I take out the 12v 8pin cable the mother board doesn’t reboot. However I don't have video, beep... I tried different PS (Thermaltake), memory slot changes, reset bios, nothing made a difference.

All test are made outside the case, a 3D Mercury from Gigabyte too. They prepared 1 set 1366 brackets for me and now I cannot use it. I read on a forum that Antec PSUs works pretty good with this mother board, but I have one. What can I do? I love Gigabyte.

Thanks in advance.

Odd, have you tried resetting the CMOS and make sure that the RAM is in the correct slots (furthest from the cpu for each stick)
Core i7 965 @ 4.35Ghz 1.37Vcore
6Gb G.Skill 1600Mhz DDR3 @ 1740Mhz 8-8-8-20 1T
HIS HD5970 @ 800/1100
Gigabyte Extreme X58
X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Fatal1ty

Yes, I have tried resetting the CMOS, with jumper, removing battery for 2 days  and with the external button. No changes.
The RAM is on white slots, like manual says... But I have test it with only 1 memory bank and without memory. Nothing made a difference...

Thanks for your help.

Hi Bradney,

Have got anywhere with you problem with booting-up to date?

I am building a new system based on a Gigabyte GA-X48T-DQ6 Motherboard and ironically I am getting the exact same problems as you.

I have tried practically all the same things as you and sadly gone a stage further i.e. replacing the mother board and the CPU. I was thinking of replacing the PSU next but read your post and wondered what if any resolutions you had arrived at?

My system as follows:-

MoBo Rev= 1.3
BIOS Rev = ? never seen it, will not boot
Serial Number = SN083600079960

Case= Thermaltake Xaser V1
PSU =Thermaltake 1500w Toughpower PSU
Cooling = Thermaltake Bigwater 760i liquid cooling system.
CPU= Intel Core 2 Extreme Quad Core, QX9770, LGA 775, 3.20 Ghz, 12MB Cache, 1600 MHz FSB
Memory = Corsair Twin3X2048-1800C7DFIN G 1800MHz DD3 SDRAM DIMMS, total of 4GB i.e. Two pair sets.
Hard-drives = for O/S when booted pair of WD Veloci Raptors 300GB 10,000rpm SATA on the Intel ICH9R Raid chip connectors AII 0 & AII1
Graphics Card = Gigabyte GV-R487X2-2GH-B
                             ATi Radeon series HD 4870x2  2GB GDDRS
Operating System = When it eventually boots and allows me to install Vista Ultimate 32 bit.

Thanks
