Z68XP-UD4 unable to enter the Bios
« on: October 12, 2011, 09:46:29 am »
I bought the Z68XP-UD4, with an i7 2600 cpu, 16Gb of DDR3, the motherboard came with F1 bios version

When I boot the PC it loads win 7 pro 64 with no issues, everything goes well, but if I boot and try to enter the bios to change settings (pressing DEL), nothing happens, and after 30 secs it starts loading windows, but with no success, it freezes so I have to reboot.

I updated the Bios version to F4 with the Windows utility, but it just behaves the same....

any suggestion? ???

thanks!

thanks for your answer,

Not sure I get your point  ???, My problem was there with ver. F1, so I updated to ver. F4 and the problem is still there, no luck

I have no indication that the update process went wrong, so, do you mean that doing the update with an USB pendrive could fix the issue?

Thanks

No, I mean have you used the Qflash utility but using a pen drive is recommended also, what have you been using? Have you read all of the post and followed the advice? It is all there in the post, if you are still having problems it may be a good idea to contact Technical Support.

If you use a pen drive ensure that it is formatted in FAT 32, something like a SanDisk Cruzer Edge pen drive.

Hi

The problem of entering the BIOS during boot up is either  the keyboard isn't compatible with the system during DOS sessions or you haven't enabled the Legacy USB Support in the BIOS so that you have DOS drivers loaded. If you have a PS2 keyboard try using that while you are wanting to make changes to the BIOS. You can always swap it back to the USB type afterwards but do remember to shut down the system before plugging or unplugging the PS2 keyboard or you can cause damage to the controller.

Solved :)

funny, but I used the Qflash utility with a pen drive to upgrade to F4 and the problem was fixed....., I wonder why the @BIOS utility is officially supported if fails so much.

Thanks ALL!
