am3+ ud5 problems with 8 core 8120
« on: October 15, 2011, 02:14:57 pm »
hi everyone i am new to the forums here, i flashed my bios back to f5 before installing my bulldozer,at the stock clock of 3.1 ghz and turbo turned off , the chip temp jumps all over the place, this didnt do that with my 1090t, i cant play any games at all because the temps will rise over 55c and even at idle its at 44c, i just wondered if anyone can help trouble shoot my problem and also does anyone have the f6d bios for this motherboard, it was taken down off there webiste, i am having alot of problems with this board, it boots so fast you have to make several attempts top even get into the bios, i am not sure if its the board or the chip causing the problem, but my 1090t idled at 30c and never topped 40c under full load at 3.8 ghz

thanks if anyone can help

Hi there,

sorry I dont have a Bulldozer so can't give an insight into what is happening but if you PM me here: http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=1342 with your e-mail address I can send you the F6d BIOS.

I'm not sure why it has been removed from the website but I am running it with my 1090T and it seems OK and, when it was on the download page it said it was for Bulldozer.... strange.  :-\

EDIT: Just noticed your e-mail address on your profile page and will send F6d BIOS over to you.

Sorry the BIOS didn't help. Are you using the Stock cooler or a 3rd party version?

Whichever cooler you are using it might be worthwhile replacing the Thermal Paste and reseating it as this may help with temps.

Are you running with the BIOS set to Optimised Defaults or have you made any changes?

What software are you using to check temperatures and voltages?

i have tried the stock cooler, an aftermarket cooler, default settings, turbo turned off and the temps are still high, this is getting frustrating, i have been building pc's for 15 years and never had this problem with temps this bad, i have never seen a cpu go from 27c to 50c to 35c bouncing all over the place , this is happening under load, at idle it sits at 30 sometimes and anything in between this is nuts

I have a couple of questions.

Have you run this board with another processor before the BullDozer ?

Does it read any different temperatures when using stock and aftermarket coolers ?

i had the 1090t installed before the bulldozer, and it idled around 30 and under load 40,with bulldozer it doesnt matter if you have a stock cooler or aftermarket the temps are crazy high under any kind of load, i have used several difrent programs to check temps and they are all pretty much matching the bios temp, i think its a bios problem but i dont know, keep in mind turbo is off and its at its stock clock of 3.1 ghz

Hi

From what I understand is Gigabyte, Asus Mb are not working properly with FX CPU and the only one I've seen so far is
MSI MB FX 8150 is photo finish with I7 2600K, 2500K . I think it was hardocp review. AMD has a deal with Asus to use there MB for there review
kits.

here is the link http://www.hardocp.com/article/2011/10/11/amd_bulldozer_fx8150_gameplay_performance_review/1

thanks but my cpu goes up to 53c just installing windows updates so i can assume that the bios is messed up,i used coretemp and it read 10c lower than the bios does, so i dont know whats working and whats not, and if i turned the turbo boost on at 4ghz the motherboard would probably die
