Hi all

I have raised the problem with technical support, described the overall problem and asked about how to reduce memory voltage to 1.5v in BIOS.
Lets see what they come up with.

Would i be correct in asuming that the auto detected mem timings of 7-7-7-20 are due to the cpu clocking the memory speed back to 1066 from 1333 timings of 9-9-9-24 as specified ?
I've never really got too far into PC detail or overclocking at all.
All i want to do is build a reasonably modern PC and use it.

Again, thanks for all the generous help :)

Yes I am sure that is what is happening. It is probably actually faster that way with tighter timings than using the pure speed of 1333mhz.

Hi,

In the mean time it might be a good idea to document what has happend for future reference and the solution to the problem. I was advised by absic to make a note of my BIOS settings in case they had to be changed so at least I would know what to revert the settings back to if was to change them or if I  cleared the  CMOS.

Also, it pays to reread your Motherboard manual and make some useful notes on the blank pages.

Oh, is that what they are for? I thought they had just run out of ideas to put in the manual. ;D

Im ahead of you already,
I keep a hardback note book on all computer builds, clean softwere installs and other upgrade details.
And even with this I still get lost sometimes reinstalling windows and drivers etc

Hi

Tech support were interested to know the RMA test result in case there was an issue, they had tested similar mem but not exactly the same.

the final outcome was that the
4GB Mushkin Silverline #996768 (2x2GB) DDR3 1333MHz 9-9-9-24
was RMA ed and found to be faulty and is being refunded.
I have replaced it with
1 x 4GB Corsair XMS3 (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10600C9 1333Mhz Dual Channel Kit - TW3X4G1333C9A
which is running perfectly, both sticks did 10 passes of memtest86+.

One does wonder wether the MB minimum 1.65v did for the Mushkin?

Anyway all happy with outcome and impressed with the online performance of win7 compared to my old win2000

Thanks for the help along the way
