Will the onboard graphics DVI connector on this motherboard be able to drive a LCD monitor and a LCD TV using the above Y splitter cable?

If it does, is there likely to be any loss of quality on the displays?

The onboard graphics has been running a CRT monitor from the VGA connector, and the TV from the DVI connector.

  As long as you don't go overboard with screen size and resolution....you should be OK ..... use good quality, shortish cables if you can!

The only problem that you might fall foul of is when booting up you may lose the display as you are using an adapter.

Monitor is a 22" LG at 1920x1080 and is connected by a 1.7m cable. This is used all the time.
The TV is a 32" Samsung at 1920x1080. It has an 8m HDMI cable with a DVI to HDMI adapter at the computer. This is not used very often, but is handy to proof read the daughter's school homework assignments from the comfort of an armchair.

Looks like it will be a case of suck it and see.

  Nail on the head me thinks! ...... with so many variable's......TV brand, cable brand and length......... .......25 bickies is probably worth the plunge

  I never thought I'd be saying this in my life-time but you might be able to do it wirelessly a tad easier!.

  Seagate have a new product ......i think called a "Wi-Drive' ...... effectively a 500GB drive with a wi-fi transceiver and battery (5 hrs on the go or wall socket)  pack in the one package........can supply enough bandwidth to run 3 apps on........might be with investigating as well

  there probably several similar branded kits that do similar......it's a Apple copied concept without the SSD and price tag

  Would make a wicked data router as well in the middle of the house tethered up to one main machine!....
