GA-EX58-UD3R, Memory settings.
« on: October 13, 2011, 11:37:55 pm »
Have just received this board back from RMA after 2 months wait due to memory fault. It's just mocked up at
present to test. Am using Kingston DDR 3, 3x4mb, 1600x 1.65v. I did a quick test with times setting to 1333.

The Jedec standard is 1333@1.5v. Noticed the voltage had risen to 1.6v , is this a problem. On X58A if upped
to 1333 the voltage stayed at 1.5v. Have yet to try XMP setting though need to run with OS first. Board came
back with  Bios FK1.

Regards tinker.

Hay tinker ..... X58s seem to run XMP pretty well.....you can get issues but to be honest....you wont break anything giving it a try.

1.6v is fine......Ive seen (and dunit meself) 1.65 dimms run up to 1.77 with a fan on it only.

Give profile one a shot and see how it goes.......it'll probably be 1600 at 1.64 to 1.66v.....Windows will load a tad faster too ;D

The memory voltage alone is not a problem. In fact I would expect it to have to be set to 1.66v probably. Some more details would be helpful though. Make sure that the QPI/Vtt must be kept within 0.5v otherwise the controller could be damaged.

Thanks for the information Allan & DM. Few things seem a bit odd, on MIT page displays DRAM voltage1.6v. Vcore 1.248v
Memory frequency 13332.85mhz (x10)

On advanced Memory settings set at SPD (auto)  1.5v
Profile QPI voltage 1.175v.

Advanced Voltage settings: QPI/VTT Voltage (auto) 1.175v. Range from 1.075v to 1.175v. Have seen quoted 1.5v (Max) for Intel but
not sure which this setting applies.

QPI reads 4798.0 to 97

Does appear as though PCIe speed is slower than X58A. The PCIe voltage is on Auto though states outside 1.5v. but not sure
what it is running at, Max is 1.5v.
