I have PM'd runn3R as advised so hope to hear from him soon.

I do know the PCI-E slot is missing the clip, but this shouldn't hinder the functionality of the slot.

I think the issue could be with the Northbridge as this seems to have overheated the slot. Only a guess though.

Might just raise a Ticket anyways.

Might be a good idea anyway as they normally take a few days to reply so you have the ball rolling so to speak. ;)

The clip shouldn't make any difference to the functionallity of the slot just the security of the card once installed. It could be the NB that caused the burning of the slot in the first place, in which case it must have been overheating for some reason.

Not really. Of course there are any number of possibilities but not if everything was running as normal and not overclocked.

Is there enough airflow through the case ?

What cooler is on the CPU ?

What GPUs have you got installed ?

There can be a couple of reasons why the Northbridge has overheated.
Firstly a lack of thermal paste or a badly fitting heatsink on the NB Chip or, severe overclocking without extra cooling capacity being added.

not sure if its been over clocked before. Really no way to tell.

honestly the board looks spanking new, so doesn't look like its been used a lot. My existing board is about 3 years and it looks old and well used.

only way to tell tbh is with a delorian and a flux capacitor. :o

Great Scott!

Morning All

i have recieved the mobo back form RMA and it according to the slip inside the box, it seems to be repaired. It looks like a capacitor needed replaced.

For the life of me i cannot where the new one has been soldered in.

Will try the board soon to see if it works.

So excited  :o

Thanks for all the help here guys.

Try using the USB pendrive method instead of the optical drive for installation. ;)

While you are waiting for the pendrive to arrive check which SATA controller you have your DVD/CD drive attached to and make sure that it is set to IDE Mode as this can help.

Also, try installing Windows with only one stick of RAM inserted on the motherboard as there was an issue of this type with Windows when there was more than 2 GB of RAM installed.

Make sure you use BIOS FB at least as FA has some issues with some optical devices.
Enjoy the board !

Morning all

Some very good news. ;D

After 4 nights trying, and after about 20 failed Windows 7 installs, i finally got it working.

Turns out that it was hanging bacause of the generic gpu driver it was installing.

Pressed F8 and loaded it in low res mode and booted. Correct driver installed and now ok.

My mobo saga is now over.

Just need to fix the AHCI problem and i am sorted.

Thanks for everyones input and help here. Much appreciated.

10 Virtual Hugs to you all.
