Ran check and now need feedback please
« on: November 06, 2011, 11:57:13 pm »
Hi All

I posted a while back about the W7 freezing randomly and at fairly long cycle times :(

Well having reviewed the most recent "event viewer" log I found a "critical" one and the error code put me on the track of using sfc.exe in verifyonly 'switch'.

All in the cbs.log was fine except this:-

Cannot verify component files for NetFx-SOS_DLL, Version = 6.1.7601.17648, pA =

PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE_INTEL (0), Culture neutral, VersionScope neutral, PublicKeyToken = {l:8 b:b03f5f7f11d50a3a}, Type neutral, TypeName neutral,

PublicKey neutral, manifest is damaged (TRUE)

I Googled for the whole lot and nothing found, then just for NetFX-SOS and still nothing so just what is this detail telling me before I use sfc/ scannow 'switch' which as I read it will repair the file......................then I shall see (eventually) if this is indeed the cause of the freezing I have been getting!

TIA :)

Hi DM

I did some more research and AFAIK this is someting to do with .Net Framework. I have used the MS verification Tool and for the various "versions" installed all report as OK ! So nothing learned by using this???

I will hang fire in case anyone can throw any light on this before I go ahead and use sfc scannow
