Are you sure its not "press F2 to enter setup"?

No it is not. This forum welcomes members from any country.

AS for your problem are you sure that you have read it correctly because there is no such output as F2 code. FF means that everything went through fine and is the same as a single beep from the BIOS buzzer. What beep code are you getting ?  OK all is clear now.! ;) The F2 that you are referring to is the BIOS version and no it won't support your CPU which requires F4 minimum. You will need an older supported CPU to do the update. ;)

It could be that the motherboards BIOS doesn't support your processor but we would ned more details to be 100% sure of that.

DM, I have not said people aren't welcome to this forum........is there any reference of me actually stating that?.However, I have just been informed that if any matter cannot be resolved by even you it should be refered to GTTS......ok?

You will need an older supported CPU to do the update.

The CPU support list can be found here:

http://uk.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/cpu-support-popup.aspx?pid=3880

So either use/ purchase a cheap one or take it to your local PC store so they can do the BIOS update for you......for a charge.

thankyou at all, i've resolved my issue.

The F2 code on diagnostic display is referred to the Bios version and the alert that the bios doesn't support CPU.
Today i've take from a friend an AM3 CPU and flashed bios to F6, now all works perfectly.

MB Name: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.GA-990FXA-UD7
BIOS version: GA-990FXA-UD7 F6
CPU Name: AMD FX(tm)-6100 Six-Core Processor  ***************  ;D
Memory information: Total physical memory 8173 MB
OS information: Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit version

This CPU isn't the best, but he works good

Hi,

Good to hear that, it might be a good idea to make a note of that "F2" display code for future reference just in case.
