I'm not really sure why you are having these problems as I haven't encountered them on my own GA-990FXA-UD5.
To answer the question about RAM speed it will be set at 1333MHz by default and is the standard for AMD processors. You might like to check through this thread:

Checking your RAM Spec's I would think these are the cause of your BSOD's as the voltage will be set at 1.5V by default and you may need to increase the voltage to 1.65V for stability. It is also worth running MemTest to make sure that your RAM isn't faulty. Even though the sticks are new this could be an issue and is worth eliminating.
I always disable the Show Full Screen Logo option in BIOS as I like to see what is happening during POST but I haven't noticed it not fitting the monitor screen properly but, I have my main monitor connected via DVI not VGA and this may be the reason.
