A few questions.. 990FXA-UD3 (F4)

Greetings everyone!

Long time user of Gigabyte products aswell as supporter.
I haven't posted in the forums before as i consider myself rather well versed in such things.

I guess getting older will rattle your brain a little...


So.
A few issues i've ran into my latest build.
I would like to note that i am all new to AMD processors though i've used them in the past but i have had no hands on experience overclocking.

I am running the GA 990FXA-UD3 with Bios F4. (As i do not have any issues with this bios i chose not to update.)
Firstly , when trying to configure two Kingston V100 64Gb SSDs in Raid 0 i was unable to figure out the process.
It seems either i'm not plugged into the right ports or controller (I tried port 1 and 2)
As building the array worked but then following the instructions in the manual i should be able to hit CTRL+M to go into
the setup.
Problem 1 : The drives are NOT visible when the "Ctrl+M" text pops up.
Problem 2 : When i get inside the configuration panel i CANNOT go over to the "Raid" tab whatsoever.

If anyone would be kind enough to point me to a guide - Or give me some pointers that would be appreciated!

And my second problem is with the Audio front panel header.
This is strange because all components are brand new.

I've tried both the HD header and AC97 and AGAIN following the manual instructions to no avail.
I simply cannot get audio to go through the front connectors.

Help or tips again , would be appreciated.

For setting up the RAID Array you might like to look through this thread: where I go in to it with some detail: http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php/topic,5704.msg45816.html#msg45816 although I am using the GA-990FXA-UD5 things should be the same.

As to the issue with the front panel audio, usually this comes down to either the Audio Codec being disabled in BIOS or, if that is not the problem, the way the Realtek Sound Manager is being configured.

Which Operating System are you running? This will help to hopefully point you in the right direction to resolve this issue.

Hi and thanks for the quick reply! I will take a look at the post provided.

I am using Windows 7 x64
I've tried fiddling around with the Realtek drivers with many different settings aswell as reproducing the manuals settings exactly.
I've tried both jacks (HD and AC97) and changed the settings accordingly in the BIOS.

As i am reading through your post here , should it matter what port the two SSDs are plugged into?
I will have the same drive as you (a 640 Black) and a normal DVD-Burner.

Please correct me if i am wrong.

64Gb Port 0
64Gb Port 1
640Gb Port 3
DVD Rom Port 4

Or should this be changed?

Hi again,

it shouldn't really matter but I have set my system up using the SATA3_0 and SATA3_1 ports for the RAID 0 array as I have installed my OS onto it and it made things simpler when it came to organising things.

If you are planning on installing the OS to the RAID0 Array as I have done then I would recommend that you do the same.
The 640GB HDD drive can be attached to the SATA3_2 or 3 port and this will run in AHCI Mode once you have set the controller to RAID
The DVD/CD drive is better if attached to the SATA3_4 or 5 port and you should set this in BIOS to IDE using the OnChip SATA Port 4/5 Type
