GA-880GM-D2H : crazy and weird.
« on: June 30, 2011, 07:52:55 pm »
MB Revisio: 1.4
OS: WinXP Pro
 Updateing from Bios F6 -> F7A -> F7B and now I have no "MOUSE"  ?
Before updateing the BIOS I had a mouse. Now no mouse att all, tried plugging it in to other USB ports still nada.
Finally, I'm re-installing Windows XP,..., and still NO MOUSE at all, and of course, now system HANGS at end of install.
So obviously F7B BIOS (I suspect) is a MESS !!
I realkize, this is the cheaper end of Gigabyte Mainboards' but geeeez , do they have to be as UNSTABLE, and CRAPPY as "AS-Rock" ???!

-no, happy att all, with this mess.

Hi there,

I know what you mean but I have to ask...
Why are you updating to the F7b BETA BIOS if everything was working OK before?  ???

The F7b BETA is a step towards AM3+ CPU Support and these processors aren't on the market yet and probably won't be for another 6-8 weeks. I would flash back to the F6 BIOS and wait until then to see what happens on the BIOS front.
Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.

I'mm all for going back to "F6", but without a mouse "@BIOS" doesn't work without a Mouse, I tried "Tabbing",..., it's been so long tryng to do anything in WinBlowz without a mouse that well  argh !
Memtest,... all showed that my memory was ok prior to this.
anyway ya, it's defintely that crappy Beta 7B

Also, there are obviously other "ISSUES" with this Board.
Namely: Insesant BEEPING because of CPU Fan , even though under PC Health Status in BIOS the temps were nominal (aka ~40 C) and the Fans are all running a-ok.
In other words I have to set it to "NOT" notify if cpu fans fails ??? which is ludicrous to say the least.

In conclusion : it's not just a problem with the BETA Bios F7B, since I had  "F6" originally and it was still "BEEPING" for no reason at all.
Hence why I upgraded the BIOS from F6 -> F7(beta's) even though that didn't even fix these other prior issues. ?

Gigabyte is obviously noe even testing their own BIOS's (definitely NOT on this board), I mean comon now !
So ya, this is a cheapo MB, and obviously Gigabyte is treating it that way so far !, (as far as their BIOS develpment teams go)
  read me ?
so hey Gigabyte, PLEEEZ fix your BIOS isssues.

anyway, I created a Ticket with Gigabyte, and we'll see, otherwise, this pizza-box is definitely going back RMA, and a full refund from my C-Store.
:(

thx

Hi there,

I know what you mean but I have to ask...

The F7b BETA is a step towards AM3+ CPU Support and these processors aren't on the market yet ...."

To be totally honest, I don't really care where their Beta is going until we do. :)
What I mean is , I have installed Beta Bios from asus , msi, gigabytes,. ... whatever. and I have never had a problem, actually they have saved my "OVERCLOCKING" poop-hole more than once. Beta BIOS, in my experience always adds some new "delicate" feature(s), but they don't disturb the underlying main firmware/bios stability 10/10 times, for me anyway.
But in this case, even the F6 (so-called STABLE),..., BIOS for this board is NOT good/stable at all.
However, 1st time for everything with this Board, and even though everything is just plain Auto/Defualts in this BIOS, it is just plain garbage.
 -and that's all she wrote.
To say much else (unless you are the proud owner of one of these) is just potentially mod-squad-glory.
I very much appreciate your quick response and yes I'm goin back to F6 with "Q-Flash", and I will never use that un-useable "@BIOS" GUI-application again.
I have learned that lesson from Gigabyte now :)

As a minor Update (using F6-Bios): The constant beeping when CPU fan fail warning is enabled in BIOS seems to be dependent on the type of AMD cpu in my case. ?
-as mentioned above, constant fan fail beeping (even though Fan/temps were ok) when I installed the:
AMD Phenom II X2 555 Black Edition.

However, when I replaced the above cpu with an:
AMD Athlon II X2 250
I was able to make any changes in BIOS and no more beeping, ie, fan-fail warnings seem to work properly now ?

I didn't bother updateing/trying the latest beta bios's (F7A, or F7B) again, since these are even more problematic at this point ....

ahh well, like I said, "...crazy and weird..."

Hi,

have you tried changing the BIOS with Qflash rather than @BIOS?
