Hi T9.

Happy yes, just annoyed that it  took so long to get resolved.

Have to go now my wife is screaming in my ear, something about finishing painting the bedroom.

Well glad to hear that it all turned out successfully for you and that you now have a properly working monitor. This is the first time I have known anyone to have dealings with AOC's service centre and it doesn't send out good feelings regarding them but at least the management sorted things out for you.

Thanks DM I have never heard of AOC before I was actually going for a 24' monitor but one of the known brands (to me that is).

Its just that I never had so much trouble in my life like this regarding warranties, in one instance I purchased a50' LG for our kitchen area it lost sound/picture within a week, took it back to the store it was replaced right there & then.

But alls well that ends well, as they say.

My first LCD monitor was an AOC at 18"  and to be fair it was fine and is still going strong now at roughly eight years old. My son is now using it as a part of his extended desktop and it has been sprayed black a few years ago to match everything else. ;)

I agree. This is what a lot of companies fail to see, that one bad response on their part can have a massive effect on their future sales figures. I am sure that AOC will discover this if they are not already aware of it. ::)

That's the difference between repeat sales and profit for any business...small or large.....if it had been hassle free for Ben then I would be more than happy to purchase their products....but on reading that....no ta.

I agree, this sort of thing should not happen, problem is a lot of companies employ staff that have only one thing in mind & its definitely not work.

Very few company employees care about the customer, the sale yes but other than that no.

Same as tradesmen I have discovered a lot don't take pride in their work any more.

The world is changing, but it is good to see that there are some good people & companies out there who will bend over backwards to help you, same as you guys.

I have just heard that the guy I was talking to is now on a holiday, by a staff member I spoke to on the phone. When I mentioned my name he was very apologetic & helpful I think he almost had a heart attack you could feel the tension.

I know it can be stressful being on the other end of the phone but that is part of your job.

Mind you when they sent me back my old monitor I think they just threw it in the box out of sheer disgust, even the deliverer said it looks like its been around the world a few times.

I took photos of it when it arrived as I wasn't to sure if they were going to send me a new one or not as the ACCC advised me on this.

But a couple of days later the courier came to pick it up, so I had him help me repackage it. then the day following my replacement monitor arrived.

This must have cost them $$$$.

Well all's well that end's well so they say, ha,ha.

Any way when I received the replacement monitor they forgot to include the power & video cables plus the remote, no biggie as I have plenty cables hanging around but still, so I phoned them regarding this & their comment was that I should have kept the original parts from my old unit, to which I replied I would have but I was promised a new not a second hand unit, they didn't get that memo evidently, so they suggested I wait until they received my old unit & they would send back my parts.
1 week later I get a phone call from someone saying they have my parcel, evidently the courier got my address mixed up, at least the house was only 5 mins away. so I picked it up took it home to find that the cables where there but no remote.
Phoned AOC again, told them about the wrong address syndrome, he said he would have a courier pick it up & deliver it back to me in the next 5 days, I mentioned that I would do this myself as it's only 5 mins away, I also mentioned the missing remote he said that  he personally  packed the bag, but would double check & if found would send it to me ASAP.

1 week later no remote emailed AOC support HQ, received a reply the next day, again apologizing for the mishap & that they would speak to their staff plus check up on the courier service & would send me a 2nd replacement remote ( I don't have the first one!) in the next 5 days so I am thinking next Friday at the latest. (fingers crossed).

Ben.

PS, still no noise from this monitor so at least they got something right.

PPS. I also mentioned in the email that from day one I have been keeping a running tally of events on a forum. (plus all emails to & fro).

Just to let you all know that this post is officially closed.

I received my remote control today whooohooo.

Not bad 3 months for all of this to get sorted out, wonder if that is a record?

Ben.

Thanks everyone.
