Unstable system with Z68X-UD3-B3
« on: November 28, 2011, 04:13:20 pm »
Soo my system is 3 weeks old and its really unstable. Random shutdowns, restarts, BSODs etc but the wierd part is that event logger or whatever wont log the BSOD or the shutdowns... My system info:

Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz
GA Z68X-UD3-B3
ATI 6950HD 1GB
SAMSUNG HD103SJ
SAMSUNG HD321KJ
WDC WD3200JS-22PDB0
8GB DDR3-1333 PC3-10700 ECC Kingston

Can anyone help?

Hi and welcome.

It might help if you added your location to your profile as we would then know where you are and if that could have an effect on your problem. Can you also post your power supply make, age and model along with your keyboard and mouse please ?

Did you check the manufacturer's QVL to see if your memory was compatible with your motherboard before purchase ?

What was the STOP code on the BSODs ?

Are you running a pagefile/swapfile ?

Hi mikk1234,  ;)

Welcome to the forum,

Please give a complete infos about your PSU... web link is the best.
Number of rails and amperage for each rail...  8)

Have you tried a clear CMOS? Have you overclocking your CPU or Ram?
Modify the tensions, timing, etc

Have you a mobile device as USB Hard Drive, USB key bootable, etc  connected in USB ports? You remove it before boot on OS system?

Have you add, change or modify software or hardware before BSOD?

Did you keep the error message  displayed on the screen. Give us a infos about this...please.
If a error msg is speedly, take a picture. Or press ''Pause Break'' on keyboard... maybe you have a time for note it on paper or take a picture.

So come back with more infos. Tanks for comprehension.  ;)

My PSU is SeaSonic M12II 620 Bronze 620W ATX12V V2.3 . I have tried to clean CMOS and stuff... BUT i think that this problem started when i plugged my eternal HDD into my PC to copy games and stuff. I have Razer Deathadder and logitech keyboard connected with USB all the time. I havent overclocked anything

You neglected to say how old the PSU is.

If you can try a different keyboard as some Logitech ones are known to give problems on occasion.

What were the BSOD STOP codes ?

What happens if you disconnect the external HDD ?

PSU is about 1 month old. I didnt had same problem with the same keyboard on other PC. I dont know the BSOD stop codes since the screen goes completly blank and i found out on the internet that its BSOD so i dontknow really. I dont have external HDD connected at the moment but still same problem but it started when i connected that HDD

You may not have had the problem on the other PC but it could be a compatibility problem with this one.

How does your external hard drive connect ? If it is USB3.0 try disabling that in the BIOS.

If you are to fix this problem you must be ready to try some changes.

That's fine regarding the swapfile then as if you don't know where it is you are not likely to have disabled it!

If you can give me the full part numbers of the memory modules I will check them against the QVL for you. I take it they were purchased as a matching kit ?

It would seem to be that the memory is your problem. For a start it is ECC. What made you purchase that in particular ?

These are NOT compatible.

The modules that are compatible with your motherboard you can find here:

I have used a lot of the Corsair Vengeance 1600 modules and they seem to work with just about anything. Corsair makes some of the best memory around and you will find a lot of it used on the forum. You can go and find the correct ones here :

http://www.corsair.com/learn_n_explore/

Just enter your motherboard model ( GA Z68X-UD3-B3 ) and it should take you to them.
