Gigabyte EP45T-USB3P Shutdowns
« on: December 12, 2011, 06:07:29 pm »
I have been experiencing random shutdowns. I have read a few threads that indicate it could be a battery backup problem and am currently running a Tripp Lite SMART750USB Smart 750VA Line-Interactive UPS.

I have ruled out heat issues using speedfan, memory using memtest 86+, HDD's using disc check, made sure all drivers are up to date, run windows update and checked for physical damage on the board.

When I start it up all the red and orange colored lights on the board light up, sorry about the blurry picture but you get the idea:

Hi and welcome.

Nice picture!  ;D

I would suggest removing your UPS/battery backup system from the loop and see if that makes a difference. On POST al the motherboard LEDs should illuminate and then go out as POST completes.

What PSU make and model is powering your system ?

check your power switch and reset switch on the case are not sticking or working improperly. If necessary remove them from the motherboard end and use the onboard button.

Attached the dxdiag .txt. I bought the backup last August. If you mean the system I built it in 2009.

Well your PSU is a couple or more years old now then so it will be not 100% at peak performance now. It is a good make but not overly large for what you have it running. If you can get a larger unit of good quality it might be worth swapping them over to see if that is the root of your problem.

The dxdiag .txt doesn't list a lot of your components to be honest.  Also I did suggest trying a new/larger PSU if you can. Have you removed the UPS from the system and if so has it had any effect ?
