My friend bought a 6990 for super cheap, (500 bucks) but he bought it through me being that he's in the military. So, I'd never had a Radeon card better then a 5850, so I wanted to try a few benchmarks to compare it to my 580's.
Well. The 6990 is a pretty nice looking card, I uninstall all the correct drivers, turn off the machine, take the 580's out, put in the 6990, in the TOP PCI EXPRESS SLOT, connect everything, fire it on, nothing. Everything else comes on, acting naturally, I even hear windows loading through my headphones. I'm confused for a second, so, I power it down, move it down to the bottom PCI express slot, and it loads!
Wondering if I just toasted one of my pci express slots, I take out the 6990, and put in one of my 580's into the pci express top slot, fires up like nothing changed. I'm baffled. I have no idea what the crap is wrong with my motherboard. Any ideas?
