Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 + AMD FX-6100 = CPU problem

Hello there ,

I just started building a new pc. Specs are: HAF922  case,Cooler Master 850 watt @ 63 amps single rail, 2 x ati hd 6790's, 16 gb of g. skill ripjaws x 1600, of course the mb and the cpu..no oc'ing yet. Ok my problem is after it booted up and all i use hwmonitor pro and the cpu wattage is 155 wats instead of 95 ...at idle it only lowers to  43.57 watts...I have reseated it 2 or 3 times alkready ..ohh and i use coolit eco 240 cooling.

Hi and welcome.

I would suggest checking your figures with a different software program and make sure it is up to date as often that is why you get unexpected readings especially on newly released hardware.

When its running i touched the n/southbridge coolers and are very hot to the touch,burns actually even when i run my hand around the cpu socket its really warm..

"i run my hand around the cpu socket its really warm.." that's not right.................. I run an H6O on a FX 6100 ( 880GMA-USB3 ) - it might be a little warmer than ambient. With 120+ processes rinning the CPU temp will hit mid 50s C. Also, the FX loves juce under heavy load.  What do you have the pump plugged into? If it's a fan header = no good.
