Hi folks - newbie here.
I'm afraid I'm not much of an expert - I have a reasonably hi-spec setup in order to cope with some hungry and temperamental music software. My first question is fairly basic so please bear with me.
What is the difference between the GSATA ports (connected to the Marvell chipset) and the SATA 3 ports (connected to the P67 chipset)? How do I decide between GSATA and SATA when connecting a SATA 3 drive to the board? Do I get better performance from the GSATA or the SATA - or neither?
I have 2 HDDs : one SATA 3 HDD for OS and apps and one SATA 2 HDD for data only. Currently the OS SATA 3 HDD and CD/DVD drive are in the GSATA ports as configured by the supplier and I added the SATA 2 at home to the first SATA 2 port. What would be the difference if I switched the OS HDD (and maybe the CD/DVD drive) from GSATA to the SATA 3 (Intel) ports?
I have read the manual and googled this and watched Utube vids about the board but haven't found a clear cut answer, and only found this forum today. Anyway thanks in advance for any advice.
