Turbo Core Issue!

Hey there,
I have a Ga-990XA-UD3
Specs here

But my problem is this,
Since getting this board, i have had performance decreases, and when i enable turbo core i get freezing and constant crashing with no log, other than it saying i crashed.

I tested my power which is fine, and switched it out with a good psu which made no difference.

The cooling is fine, in fact i use water cooling.

and i do not overclock ( have not even been able to try since it won't work properly in the first place lol )

Any info and help would be great!

Hi and welcome.

Firstly it would help if you posted your components on here rather than having to look elsewhere for them. Use it as a sig if you want to.

I notice that you have all the memory banks full. Have you set these up manually or left it on Auto settings in the BIOS ?

What voltage are they defaulted to ?

What voltage have you got them set at ?

What temperatures is it running at ?

I have set my memory manually of course 7-7-7-20
they default if left alone to 1.5.

I set them to 1.7 to function properly

Temps resting 12c
Temps running hard 34c

It would seem to be rather chilly in your room!

There is nothing there that seems to be wrong at all from my point of view. Maybe one of the AMD lads will spot something.

If you haven't already run Memtest I would suggest doing that. Please follow these instructions exactly.

I would suggest that you download and run the latest version of  Memtest86+ to check your RAM first.

Memtest86+        http://www.memtest.org/

Insert one stick of memory in slot 1 and run Memtest on it for at least 10 complete loops/cycles and if there are no errors then swap it over with the next one and continue untill you have checked all  modules.
 
If you have any errors the module is faulty.

If you have any faulty modules you will have to return the whole kit as they are matched.

Post back when you have done that with the results.

All the memory is fine no errors or anything of the such.

I see the problem is this,
Turbo core is off, Core voltage stays at  1.34 or at around it and is stable.

Turbo core on, Core voltage jumps from 1.32 to 1.50 randomly for no reason with no loads at all. just Google chrome turned on. and with out the clock speed increasing.

Oh, I don't use Chrome so I don't have a lot of experience with it. I don't see why it should affect the core voltage though.

Each browser does not act the same way with the system.
If you try one of them, it is best to reboot the system to have the same starting conditions.
And open the same web pages.

A browser will take more space in memory.
Another will use more system resources (processes and services).
A browser is actually really close web pages that are clicked''close''.
Another will keep them in memory or hard disk.

I will spare you the rest.
Start your test ... go.

the problem is the board is sending to much power to the processor with turbo core turned on and does not have control on it.

which BIOS version are you running?

What you're describing sounds like the LLC which on some of the 9 series motherboards can appear quite worrying. The CPU Voltage, bouncing around, is pretty normal and I experience the same thing on my GA-990FXA-UD5 motherboard. If the system is stable and not overheating there isn't too much to worry about.
