Have the same problem with PCI simplecommunicator controller.
Bu tall works fine and. I'm not sure what is causing this error.
I got it after installing Win7 and my multi smart-card reader don't read my ID-card. Maybe it's because of that, but not sure. I'm using another external USB card reader for that.
If You get solution then don't forget to post it here to :D

Have you tried google there is info about PCI Simple. 690LC had a reference to power controllers
so not sure about that one.

Regards tinker.

Hi

I was searching an answer to this also using links that are given here by people but non of them seemed to fit rightly.
So I was checking around on intels site and tehere is no chipset as mine listed orsmthing.
Aida64 sais that I have Intel Cougar Point Z68 chip but nothing found on Intel page

So I checked some more and downloaded a thing called INF Update Utility (Intel Driver Update Utility) and it solved my problem. It automaticalli installed a bunch of drivers and message with PCI Simple Commucation Controller error went away.
It also installed some SATA drivers or something like that.
Here is link to that download: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?ProductID=816&DwnldID=20019&lang=eng&iid=dc_rss

Here is link to Intel s automaticly identify drivers thingy: http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect/?iid=subhdr+dnlds_detect

If You thinking about my disc then Yes I have it but I don't have CD/DVD drive comatible with my new mobo. My optical drive was IDE and mobo doesn't have any IDE connections, only SATA.
So I downloaded all the drivers in the beginning from internet and seems that I missed something.

But still just for info, I had that problem also with my old mobo and processor setup. I got the error after changing from Win Vista to Win7 x64.
And I did not make new install of OS when I changed my mobo and processor.

But now the error is gone.

Well that would explain why it was missing then. It is easy to miss a file when downloading them all. ;)

But annoying thing was that device with driver error was impossible to identify automatically and when searching answers in Google there was soo many different thing about it and none of them reallly seemed to fit. And I never before while searching found anything that would point me towards Intel's homepage for help so I just did not know for what i'm looking for.

Your drivers are in the cd and not find automatcly by google

You can also install with a USB DVD if you have not SATA IDE

Or you can use a IDE to Sata adapter

Or .. you can copy all the CD to a USB Memory Stick ...

For find drivers you have a good site ( no money ) : www.touslesdrivers.com but only if you have the network card driver OK for connect the site

PCI communications device is part of your chipset drivers. the 690LC is part of your cooling system. Asetek or Antec water coolers, if you pluged in the USB header from it youll have 690LC show up until you install the driver for the device. Antec's: http://www.antec.com/Believe_it/product.php?id=NzA0MzcwJjE3
