Z68X-UD7-B3 issues
« on: January 03, 2012, 09:37:43 pm »
Hi all.
Just built my new rig and running into issues.
System specs:
I7 2600k with H80 cooler
Z68X-UD7-BE
2- GTX580 SLI
16 gig corsair vengance
Corsair force 3 120 SSD
Corsair AX1200 power suply
Razer Mamba
logitech G15 keyboard
Coolmaster HAF 32 case
2- mushkin 60 SSD

I have updated the bios to F9. Problems started after i did windows updates. Windows load very quick. but once i installed Gigabyte software, then it was a different machine. Touch BIOS doesn't work properly. Half the fields are blank. I reinstalled the operating system, then installed all new Gigabyte  drives and utilities. Then touch bios worked for a day.
The big issue is when after the windows loading screen, i enter my password. Then the computer thinks for 40 sec. Then i get a black screen with asus smart doctor(i can operate smart doctor in this window). the 5 seconds later windows loads. I have timed it, every boot take the exact same time.
If any has any comment that can help.
Thanks all.
Just alittle frustrated that a $340 motherboard is giving me these issues. For top end hardware, i expect and demand the best.

Hey nice rig!! When you finished putting your rig together did you load optimised default in bios the restart your machine? Also did you install the SSD onto the intel sata port and set it to ACHI in the bios?

If you reload the Machine don't put the Gigabyte stuff on and see how it goes. I have a similar setup to you and I just loaded what I needed not the easytune stuff.

After the first time i loaded the system, i forgot ACHI, so did a fresh install.. ::)
I loaded optimised defaults, then enabled ACHI. I plugged my OS drive to the intel sata 6G/B.
I am using Revo uninstaller to remove all gigabyte programs(except chipset drivers). then starting off fresh.
Don't get me wrong, this board is great and looks even better. 4.4 GHz and very stable for BF3 and COD4.
Futuremark vantage 11295 was my score without the "twin turbo mode".
I hope these loading issues go away.
Thanks for your help. I will advise if i find the problem.

Removed the gigabyte utilities, download and reinstalled.
smart6 was giving me a error.. GSQB MFC application has stopped working.
Touchbois is only working 50%. So i need to look into that.
After password, is only about 10-15 sec till windows screen. The black screen, is gone now.--fixed

Is there any other Gigabyte utility i have to install, to have touchbois work properly?
Another question i have is, i have 2-gtx580's. i had to install my sound card (creative fatality PCI-1X) in a 8X pci-e slot. will that affect my video cards at all? meaning bus speeds?

Thanks again all.

Hi and welcome.

I see that you have already fallen foul of the Gigabyte software trap! I never install any bundled software that comes with any motherboard as usually it brings more problems than it fixes. I would suggest a complete format of the drive followed by a reinstallation of the OS in AHCI mode. Make sure that the boot drive is on SATA3_0.

Which drive/s are you using for the boot drive ?

You ask about the PCIEx8 slot and whether it will  affect the graphics cards at all. It depends on which slots you are using.
Gigabyte X58A-UD7
i7 920
Dominators 1600 x6 12GB
6970 2GB

The last install,  AHCI mode was enabled.
Corsair Force3 120 gig is Boot drive. It's connected to SATA3_0.
Regarding my sound card. It is in PCIE-X8_2 slot. This is the only slot left i can install in. The 1X slot is useless, because of the N200 chipset heat sink.
Regarding the software trap...lol     Touch bios was 1 of the reasons i picked this board(16X, 16X for sli was the main reason). Was looking at Asus Maximus IV Extreme-Z was my second pick.
I hope i can fix the software issues.
Thanks

Regarding the "bundled software". The only software i want is touchbios, smart6, easytune6. The only 1 that really works is easytune6. These i want for overclocking and monitoring my pc. I didn't install the rest.. I am building a gaming beast...so all that "green software" can be used for a coaster... ;D

Hi Dingo,  ;)

I suggest strongly you remove Easy Tune6.
And not reinstall it.

Driver notes : before install new driver,
Please completely remove older version driver first with :
Drivers sweeper : http://phyxion.net/Driver-Sweeper/Driver-Sweeper/Version-3-2-0/

and soft for  Windows Registry :

jv16 PowerTools 2011 http://www.macecraft.com/downloads/jv16pt_setup_hb.exe
Wise Registry Cleaner Pro http://www.wisecleaner.com/soft/WRCPro.exe

and restart the computer.

If you want monitoring Hardware, use a

And use Game Booster for deactivate a service and pgm not necessary when you play.
