The past floods in Asia has really knocked around production world wide for many industries .... you just have to compare hard drive prices to 12 months ago

Things are coming back on line but at a pace no one expected ..... unfortunately supply and demand dictates unit price until full production is restored in this region

All companies are being affected ....Sony and Canon to name just two

Hi that's it i have settled for this setup

Intel Core i5 2500K Unlocked, S1155, Sandy Bridge, Quad, 3.3GHz, HD3000 IGP 850Mhz, 6MB Cache 95W Retail           £174.18

Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3P, Intel Z68, S 1155, DDR3, SATA III - 6Gb/s, RAID SATA, PCIe 2.0 (x16), ATX                               £126.84

I had thought on the mobo with the 20gb SSD but i can allways add one of them latter the wife didn't hurt me to much with the phone she got one the same as my daughter got the week before but i don't think there was a conspiracy. I can either get the chip this month or the mobo and ram what do you suggest I don't want to keep the money till next month just incase something else brakes down in the house, I think  i should go for the mobo and ram.

Yes, I would get Mobo and RAM too.

CPU has the best chance of dropping in price in the coming months ..... memorys just at an all time low and unlikely to move down further ..... at least with the Mobo and mem, you can keep your self busy and keep an eye on pricing and who's putting out deals in the coming months.

Hi do you know if revision 1.3 of the mobo I have selected has been released in the UK as I have my eyes on one of the AMD 7970 hopefully in the future. I know SandyBridge i5 don't support PCI-E 3.0 but i think the Ivy Bridge chips do and they as far as i know will fit the Z68 boards.

Z68 and Z77  CPU compatibility is still up in the air .... I know it's the hardest thing to do ..... but to save grief down the line ..... stick your money in a term saver or somewhere you will have real difficulty getting you hands on it ..... and just keep adding to it to you reach the goal ....

I once purchased a mother board with the thinking of adding a piece at a time when the funds became available......2 years later , I was the proud owner of a 3 yr old machine  :'(

Hi no luck in getting the Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3P rev 1.3 so i might just go for the rev 1.0, there is some good deals out there I missed one yesterday where it had been reduced to £87 i might give them a call and see if they will let me have at the deal price, it still seems a good mobo, last thing what is the difference between the Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3P and the GA-Z68X-UD3P-B3

At a  glance.... the UD3P has Support for 3TB+ Unlock , ..... Support for TouchBIOS  and on-board graphics over the B3 version.

there also a HDMI port on the I/O panel lacking again on the B3 version .....although handy features.......if you don't use them ...... why pay for them!....... please correct me if I made mistakes. ;)
