No sound GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 (F10)

Just bought my first Gigabyte MB in many, many years.  Bought it for a Hackintosh and have installed Snow Leopard 10.6.8.  While checking the major functions of the OS install I discovered that I had no sound output from the MB.  Installed all the required kexts for the Realtek ALC889 but still no go.

Next I took a second hard drive and loaded 64-bit Win 7 OS on it.  Also, installed Gigabyte drivers on the distribution CD that came with the MB.  Also no sound output for this installation. A check with the System Information tool showed an OK status but the installed driver puzzles me.  Here is what is shown for the driver: c:\windows\system32\drivers\rtkvhd64.sys.

Any thoughts or suggestions re my problem?

- Check the mixer
- Check the control panel; does it show your speakers as plugged in?

Yes the control panel shows the line output jack as having my earbuds plugged in.  Tried both front panel and rear line output jacks.

Got my sound output working on Win 7 OS installation - uninstalled the Realtek driver and then reinstalled.  Now to get sound output working in the Snow Leopard OS installation ...

Ya, that driver you mention is the Realtek x64 one.

Sorry I can't personally help with MAC, but good luck on finding a solution for that!
