BIOS for Gigabyte HD6970 - GV-R697OC-2GD

BIOS for Gigabyte HD6970 - GV-R697OC-2GD
« on: January 13, 2012, 07:06:05 am »
I made the mistake of flashing my Gigabyte HD6970, and now I'm having lots of problems. In Battlefield 3 it's crashing every few minutes. I realise that's not uncommon with BF3, but I'm pretty sure it was OK until I reflashed.

After much hair pulling I realised I had flashed my card to GV-R697OC2-2GD BIOS rather than GV-R697OC-2GD.

The Gigabyte @BIOS utility just went ahead and installed it. I didn't read the model number correctly and assumed it would only allow a BIOS for the current card.

I naively didn't backup the original BIOS, mistakenly thinking it could be downloaded again from the Gigabyte site....

I found a BIOS on Techpowerup, but strangely when I flashed it, the utility said it was the same as the one I had.

The VGA @BIOS utility is still saying GV-R697OC2-2GD F3.

Can anyone confirm what version should be displayed for this card?

Any chance somebody could extract their BIOS from their card and send it to me?

I ended up going into CCC and reducing the clock speed back to 900 and it seems OK.  As far as I can tell the only difference between the cards is the clock speed.  If you still have problems reduce the clock again and increase the voltage slightly.

i did the same. I also wrote gigabyte suport but no answer yet. I also found a backup bios. with .f3 extension renamend it to .bin ant try to flash. It does not work. It looks like I have to stick to the new bios :|

later edit: my card with the old original bios use to crash if i did not put the fan speed manualy over 70%. Now it is the same.

I managed to revert back to old bios (original) using Ultimate bootcd and atiflash for dos. now it works ok.

Still freezes on heavy load. need to put fan speed over 70% to keep it cool. Max temp is 65-70c. over that if freezes. I thought it could go to 90-100 C but it do not reach that temperature.

Question: do I lose my warranty if the bios is EXACTLY the same as before? (no tweaking)
Sorry for double post and my english :(
