H67M D2 - B3 - LAN not working

Hi there,

System Specs:

Mobo: GA-H67M -D2-B3 Rev1.1

CPU: Sandybridge i2500K

Ram: Corsair Vengeage 4gb

GPU: Radeon XFX 6870

HDD: 1TB Seagate

I've been trying to get the inbuilt lan working on an operating system and been having no luck whatsover, no matter what drivers I used. I then looked into the Bios last night and noticed that my Smart Lan options are null and look nothing like what the userguide says they should be (see attached screen shot)

Any advice or help would be great, or is it time to send back the board?

Hi and welcome.

From the attached picture it looks like there is no cable connected to the port. Try another cable.  You are using Cat5e cable I presume ?

Yeah I'm using a cat5e cable. However in the manual even when there is no cable connected there is still more information than available in my bios. No lights coming from the port at all either

Do you have the onboard LAN enabled?  Just checking to be sure, the setting is above the test setting.  Also, be sure you have loaded optimized defaults, then save/apply/reboot back to the BIOS and set your SATA settings and any other changes you need before heading back into windows..

Are you using the latest BIOS?  If not updating may correct it if there isn't any damage, as may clearing the CMOS for an extended period.   Disconnect the PSU from the motherboard, or switch it off in the rear of the PSU.  Then remove the CMOS battery, then press and hold the case power on button for one minute.  Then put a jumper on the Clear CMOS pins, and let it sit like that for 8+ hours, or overnight while you sleep then all day while you are gone at work or school, ect.

A quick clear of the CMOS may help too, just shorting the pins for a few seconds, but sometimes extended is needed.   So try the short test first, then if no luck do the extended method mentioned above.

Made sure Lan was enabled (would be a rookie mistake )
Tried optimized defaults already - no luck
Updated the Bios to F5 - zilch

Haven't tried Clearing the CMOS yet, will try it any let you know.

Yes, go ahead and try a short CMOS clear, then if no luck try an extended one.  If that does not help it would appear the onboard LAN is faulty.

I have the exact same problem on my Z68MA-D2H-B3 mobo. Ive googled and searched the web all night long into the morning and had no luck w/ whatever I tried. It looks the LAN goes into so called deep sleep and cannot be woken up again. Some people have made it by clearing the CMOS or removing RAM for 10min or so, some left it out for all night long, maybe putting battery out could help. Ive tried all that plus completely taking the machine apart,removed the PSU, hard drive, battery, RAM.....no help.  I gave up.

What did you leave out all night?  If you meant RAM/Memory, that wont matter.

Yes, please unplug your PSU or switch it off in the rear.  Then press and hold the case power on button for one minute, then remove the CMOS battery, and then put a jumper on the clear CMOS Pins.   Then let it sit overnight and try it again the next day after putting it all back together and removing the jumper from the clear CMOS pins.

Also, be sure you are using the latest BIOS, and starting with Optimized Defaults

I take it that you have all the correct drivers installed for the Realtek chip (LAN) ?
