970a-ud3 memory issue?? and I need a little schooling.
« on: February 22, 2012, 01:57:46 am »
I have a 970a-ud3 mobo
16 gigs x 4 corsair vengeance 1600
amd fx 4100
gtx550ti
600 watt corsair gaming ps

First off I am new to really tweaking utilities and advanced bios settings, but I am a quick learner so any help would be greatly appreciated.
I built this computer for audio recording and gaming and I really need it optimized.

My first problem I guess is in the easy tune 6 the only setting that works in the memory section is 1334 speed.??
I have 1600
and I'm having some issues with audio hardware and blue screens, and I'm trying to weed everything out. I do beleive I have gotten all the lastest stuff from gigabytes website.

So please help, you guys know a hell of a lot more about this stuff than i do.

Thanks

First off download cpuz and that will show you what ram is running at and timings. Then enter bios and make any changes there. Utilities that do tweaking as you say dont load till windows does and puts stress on it at the wrong time if you do any changes and in bios then you will be able to get it optimized and stable.

First on memory timings for those modules is 9-9-9-24 and they will run at that easy. Voltage should be optimized unless you want to do it manually if so then they run at 1.5 volts.  They should also be set to Un-ganged mode. During this do not overclock processor you want to get ram set right first and of course YOU DO THIS AT OWN RISK.

You trash your rig because you change the wrong setting your rig not mine.

Make any changes small and 1 at a time.

16 gigs x 4 corsair vengeance 1600

4 X 16 Gigs ?!

What is the amount exactly ,what is the memory code ?!

For all mb slots full most probable you can t go to 1600 Mhz if the modules are double sided with that amount of memory.

If this is not a 4 sticks double channel kit this can be a problem as mixing 2 kits might bring strange issues.
At least make sure each pair goes alternatively into the proper slots to enable dual channel and not one kit on one channel and  the other kit modules  on the other channel.

Start testing memory stick by stick then 2 sticks in dual channel see how it goes.
Over & Out !
