Hi there,

BSOD's can be caused by many things and if possible, try and note the STOP Code and post it here as it can help pinpoint the cause.

Gigabyte recommend a PSU of 500 Watts or more for your motherboard so that could be a problem and if you can, try a larger unit. But it could just as easily be a faulty RAM module or due to some other component or the software environment, that you haven't listed.

Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.

Hi and welcome.
I would suggest listing all your hardware by make and model sdo we have a better idea of what you are running. I would agree with absic that it could well be down to a low power PSU and you should be looking at something larger but at this point it could be anything. Please post the STOP codes of the BSOD as well as they are more informative.

To save people some time lol. I realized that the board only had one 4 pin connector for cpu and I was using the a8-3850 100watt. I put the a8-3850 on my board with 2 4pin connectors for cpu and it has not crashed since. Even though the site says the 100watt cpu would work on the board GA-A55M-DS2, I only got blue screens with it. I guess one 4pin cpu connector was not good. Has anybody else had this problem?

The only time I have come across this, was on a slightly different build and it came down to the PSU not delivering enough power. Swapped the PSU and everything was fine.

If you still have problems with a larger PSU then I would advise you to contact Tech Support as there maybe something else going on with the motherboard/CPU combination, that you are not aware of.

No problems yet, it was odd that most of the blue screens would happen when just moving the mouse. Now that I put the a4 dual core 65 watt on the motherboard I can't get it to crash. Kind of thinking its not the psu wattage since I put the quad core on an a75 motherboard with another coolermaster 460 and same parts, just more ram and fans and it hasn't blue screened yet. I almost think that the cpu just needed to be reseated.

Don't you just love computers?

This is the kind of issue that can be really frustrating, especially when just reseating or moving  parts between different PC's, seems to cure the problem. I have lost count of the amount of hours I have spent in similar situations, trying to find the "cause" only to find several days or weeks down the line that I still don't know why something happened.  :P

Yea I spent 2 weeks on and off trying to get the system stable, it would run prime 95 for 10 hours fine,, then i move mouse and crash.  Now it's kinda making me mad again. It's got the dual core in it right, well I'm downloading 2 files over 200 megs and its so slow i can't even open task manager. Stupid clistart.exe or something like that is using 90% of the cpu, think its part of the ati drivers. So I gotta figure it out now. I close clistart and damn the system is fast again lol.

Are you running latest ATI Drivers? Updates to 12.2 were just released and it might be worth trying those.

Also, as I mentioned previously, it would be worthwhile raising a support ticket with Tech Support on your side of the pond as they may be aware of an issue and have a different BIOS that you can try.

I'm going to double check again cause under Catalyst control panel the stupid thing said I have 12.3 installed. At work right now so I can't check.

I do have the latest bios installed, at least the one that is listed on the site.

Just double checked and the latest ATI Drivers are definitely 12.2.

Sometimes, Tech Support can have a beta BIOS that hasn't been released yet. I have had a few of these from them myself, in the past and not had any problems when running them.

Definitely going to use driversweeper or uninstall the drivers in safemode when I get home. Going to lunch now, can't wait for those new fish bites lol.
If It does bluescreen again then I will email them about a beta bios. Glad you suggested it.
