Test dead pixels on LCD screens.
« on: March 20, 2012, 07:27:51 am »
Hi friends,  ;)

You bought a new LCD screen, you got it as a gift, or you have been simply sold'' as is''.

You have a doubt about the quality of the pixels on this LCD screen ...

Here is a list of software used to check if your screen has dead pixels.

Dead Pixel Buddy - DPB

Dead Pixel Tester - DPT

PixelRepairer
http://strony.toya.net.pl/~awulkiew/?page=pixelrepairer&lang=en

PStrip - PowerStrip
http://entechtaiwan.com/util/ps.shtm

UDPixel
http://udpix.free.fr/

It is wise to check the dead pixels before the guarantee of the seller or manufacturer is completed.

Handy little utilities. If some actually can repair even some dead or stuck pixels it is worth trying.

Hi all

I purchased an LED TV & the warranty states that's it's common to have 1 dead or bright pixel & was by no means a fault of the unit & therefore it should not be returned as faulty, it had a bright pixel so I took it back to the shop & they replaced it no questions asked, evidently they didn't read the warranty.
Plus I was not going to mention it. (bad boy).

Just wondered if they didn't take it back where would I stand & is this normal for all TV's?

Hi Ben,  ;)

I understand you that you have connected the TV to the computer?
And you did the test to detect dead pixel?

Honestly, I do not know if this is normal.

I would advise you to call a repairman tv.
Just for additionnal infos about dead pixel
Would be more able to tell you.

Each country has their own consumer laws which actually do govern the amount of deaed or lit pixels that you have to put up with before a replacement has to be offered. It is quite specific too and the number is so many per square cm. It even covers their closeness to one another and the colour of them. Quite complicated really.

I am just glad that the shop owner took it back no questions asked & replaced it with a new one, the unit is for my garage it's only a small 22" one.

Yeah they are getting really picky regarding the pixel thing, used to be if you had one dead pixel it was automatically replaced, how things have changed.
