Hello everyone! socket 2011 CPU questions

I recently won the Facebook March Madness contest (latest & last winner) one of my prizes is a G1 Assassin 2 motherboard. My question is is the 3930k worth the extra money over the 3820? I realize the 3930k is a 6-core and has a fully unlocked multiplier but, I don't plan on overclocking past 4.0-4.2GHz and will only primarily be gaming and surfing the web. Or are there new socket 2011  CPU's coming out soonish? I've already got a ASUS Maximus IV Extreme and 2600k so I'm not entirely sure buying a new socket 2011 CPU is a wise decision anyway.. LOL But, with getting the board, Thermaltake 1000w PSU, and 8GB of RAM for free and already owning a spare GTX 480, a few 640Gb WD Blacks, and Cosmos S case Id only be buying a  CPU for a whole other system.

Well, you have to decide then, aside from the $$, do you want 4 cores at 4.2Ghz or 6 cores at 4.2Ghz?

Congrats on winning!!   Good luck picking a CPU, if you are thinking Ivy soon then maybe 3820 would be best so you can save a little change for the Ivy setup!

I would have to agree with Lsdmeasap and would go for the lower costing CPU the 3820. It will still give plenty of power and will save you some $ for the IvyBridge CPU that will be out shortly.

I'm thinking about just waiting til Ivy Bridge-E (I believe that's what it's called) is released... Then choosing one.. I'm truly not in a hurry. Like I said I already have a ASUS MIVE/2600k build.. I believe they are releasing Ivy Bridge-E in Q4 correct?

Not sure when that's coming out, due to all the recent date changes!   But I do think you may be correct, at least that's the current date mentioned everywhere, this week anyway
