GA-Z68AP-D3 Rev 1 New F8 Bios shutting down in a weird way
« on: April 13, 2012, 06:24:29 pm »
Yesterday i upgraded to the new F8 bios via @BIOS, TWICE until i decided to download and flash back to F7 instead.

This is what's going on:
Everything is working fine, and my overclock is stabile and everything, but with F8, when i shut down the pc, i can hear the HDD and some of the fans shutting down, but the PSU keeps running for about 10 seconds before it completely shuts down. It does not do that with F6 or F7.

Ps. F6/F7/F8 are BIOS versions :)

Hi and welcome.

You really believe in pushing your luck there don't you. Not content with trying to screw your system with @BIOS once but going back for a second attempt!

In all seriousness though you should use QFlash to run any BIOS upgrades as it works at a lower level and is therefore much more stable. @BIOS runs on top of Windows and we all know how sturdy that is!

I would suggest reflashing the BIOS using QFlash and the newest BIOS version and hopefully then you will be working alright again. When running the QFlash utility you will get to the homepage, once there disable the option to Keep DMI Data before continuing.

I've flashed over 10 computers with @BIOS so i don't really see the problem. Yes i do know windows is unstable, but only if you have made it unstable. The computers i work with are all setup by me and are some of the most stable and secure windows installations i've seen to date :). My work is just flawless ;) lol.
Anyways, that wasn't the reason i created this topic. There is obviously a bug in F8 that is creating this problem, so for now i'm sticking to F7 (I don't have any USB 3.0 issues and my 64gb usb 3.0 usb-stick is working fine).

Fair enough as long as you are happy with the setup.  Can't argue with 10 computers. So you were just letting everyone know that there is an issue with F8 then ? Thanks.  ;)

Exactly :)
If I do see QFlash as an easier method of flashing the BIOS or if I am in an unstable windows environment, then I will definitely follow your advice :)

Ps. Yes I did wan't to let everyone know, but I wanted to let Gigabyte know aswell so that they might fix the problem..?

Hy.

I had the same problem with a Gigabyte GA-Z68AP-D3 rev. 2  motherboard and the newest FD bios.
