Setup raid after windows installation on P67A-UD4-B3
« on: April 08, 2012, 02:10:20 pm »
Mobo BIOS F6
I have installed windows 7 x64 and set it to ahci mode. Becuase I use an SSD for OS.

Now afterwards I try to setup a raid config on 2 drives in raid 1 for just data.
In the BIOS i set:
PCH SATA control mode : RAID(XHD)
eSATA controller : disabled.

I have configured the 2 disks to go in raid 1. This all works.

But now when I boot windows logo comes up but does not go to logon screen. just BSOD and reboots.

I have set the PCH control to AHCI again and windows just boots ok again. But then the data disk is not found.

I have changed the registry in windows to not go into AHCI mode but just IDE. Set the PCH control mode on IDE and windows als boots.
I have also installed IRS (intel rapid storage technology) But this all does not help.

I have only the SSD on the white sata ports the data disks are in the black onces as is my DVD player.

How can I get the SSD in AHCI mode and get the RAID for the data disks withouth having to install windows all again?

--And I dont want to use my harddisks in raid on the external esata connections (marvel chip?)

You don't say which ports are being used for which drives but for now we will carry on regardless. The AHCI mode is not interchangeable with IDE at will. As you have found out BSODs abound!

The best port to use for the SSD is SATA2_0

You need to set the port controllers that use the ports that are connected to the SSD and the RAID drives to run in RAID mode and do not change it this time.

As before setup your RAID array with the two drives.

Use your optical drive on a seperate controller in IDE mode.

You can now instal Windows onto the SSD with no problem.
