Memory Problem?

Memory Problem?
« on: April 18, 2012, 12:01:29 pm »
I have a GA-EP45-DS3R motherboard a month ago it started acting up turns out it was the graphics cards getting overheated and started to display the monitor with pixels everywhere before freezing like it does when the CPU or GPU overheats. I fixed this for a while by replacing the graphics card then I get a similar problem just not the pixels everywhere but still the freeze or still the blue screen. Someone here said it might be the memory I did a test and found no problems but ever since I haven't had any problem at all also the graphics cards that I replaced were actually faulty making it difficult at first to distinguish the 2 problems as now I know they're different.

The reason why I think it might be memory related is because I got blue screened when I tried to install a 32 bit program when I finally installed it Windows said it couldn't run it because it was a 32bit application and needed 64bit which is strange because it never does that. After the memory test no problems were recorded but now 10 out of 10 boots everything runs fine and when I reinstalled the 32bit application I get no problems at all. I thought it was the motherboard at first because of the first problem and faulty memory doesn't react that way I think it might be the memory now but why didn't I pick up any errors? I still don't know if it's the memory or motherboard issue and I'm worried I might get this problem again at random in the future given I don't know the problem or how it was solved??

Hi,

I am afraid that I am totally confused by what you think is the problem here. Do you have an actual problem ? You say it boots correctly 100% of the time and you had no memory errors. Maybe you could clarify the situation please.

Sorry I should make this clearer by shortening up my story.

I still don't know if it's the memory or motherboard issue and I'm worried I might get this problem again at random in the future given I don't know the problem or how it was solved??

Well until it happens again you wont really know, could have been even the program itself, either conflicting or not installed properly, driver issue.

Just be happy for the moment that all is well.

Ben.
