I currently have the same freeze-ups, but am not using an SSD and am not overclocking at all.

I am not using a seperate graphics card, and am using the stock cooler but, since this computer is not used for 3D games, the CPU temperature doesn't seem to be an issue.

I haven't tried any of the fixes yet, but will post back when I have.

Forgot to mention that the RAID mirror normally loses sync when this happens, 'though whether this is caused by the lockup, or is a symptom of it, I can't say.

Using Z77-D3H i had the same freezing. Could be after 10 seconds, 10 minutes or 2 hours, very random. Changed the BLCK to 100.1 and it hasnt froze since tuesday night.

Using bios F8.

Will most likely update when a more stable bios is released.

I'm using the GA-Z77M-D3H, but the problem seems to be the same.

However, with the latest F7 bios, and with BCLK set to 100.1, my problem seems to have gone away.

just for my curiosity - what happens at optimized defaults loaded (auto bclk) now with f7 bios?

I hope this problem is fixed soon , It's disappointing to buy a new motherboard and not be able to use it. >:(

Still perplexed.. my system freezes at boot on the Gigabyte logo approximately 1 in 3 times on start up.  The other 2 out of 3 times it will boot into windows andl be totally stable (gaming, stress tests, etc).  Going into the BIOS anytime results in an inevitable freeze after 5- 30 seconds.  It's now become this game of racing against the clock to change BIOS settings before it freezes... almost kind of entertaining.  I have this BIOS memorized so well I could work it without looking at the screen.

I don't understand why the BIOS is unstable when Windows is perfectly stable.  Since I am overclocking and increasing voltage, I would get it if that was the reason the BIOS would be unstable.  But why would Windows be rock solid in that case?  Is the BIOS more susceptible to the effects of increased clock speeds and voltage?  Temperatures aren't an issue as they are within reasonable limits...

Hi

Just as a suggestion try adding a little HDD delay of a few seconds and see if that helps at all.

Dark Mantis, was that directed at me?  I'll try it.. since the freezing at boot is getting worse, seems like 2/3 of the time it locks up now.  But still haven't had a crash yet in windows.  Ran Prime95 overnight without any errors.  Played The Witcher 2 and Crysis 2 for three hours today without issues.  Some Excel number crunching... no issues.

I raised the voltage to 1.3 and rebooted 10 times... no freezes.  Set it back down to 1.245 and rebooted 10 times, froze 5 times at boot.  Set voltage to stock 1.165 and clocks back down to stock and rebooted 10 times... no freezes.  So it is clearly an overclocking issue.  Just why it only happens in the BIOS and not in much more demanding gaming/computing situations confuses me.

I think I'm willing to live with it for the free 1 GHz of performance.  One question... does rebooting often (from the stuck Gigabyte logo on load) often the lifespan of any computer components?  My gut tells me it doesn't, but if anyone has an opinion I'd like to hear it.

@dizzyorange

it's strange indeed why the lock ups only appear at boot or in the bios and not in windows under applications. it usually happens totally opposite :-)

using this configuration:
i5-3570K, Z77-D3H (Rev1.0), BIOS F13, RAM G.SKILL F3-12800CL9D-4GBNQ 2Gx2 ,    onboard VGA
and CPU @ multi: 44x , Vcore: 1.22V, LLC: Extreme
i haven't noticed any problem like yours

i wonder what's the difference between your and my config which maybe the reason of your problem ???
pls try change psu, ram, vga or just use integrated vga - all just for checking

what else...? there is newer bios f13x , maybe it's worth to try too?

Yes I was aiming the post at you but would have to agree that it does indeed seem to be to do with the voltage from your experimentation.  I would still just try my suggestion as it is indeed weird that it should only happen during the BIOS sequence.

As for whether any system longevity would be affected I would say that it will but not to the extent that you would need to worry about it. The most stressfull part of the computer's operating sequence is booting up and so the more times that you ask it to do so the more stress you put it under but no more than just the same as any other restart would.

It would be worth trying kangoo's suggestions too.

Tried F14 last week, froze after about 8 hours. just changed the BCLK to 100.1 again and left it. Anyone else tried F14?

No freezes since i changed the BCLK too 100.1 in F14.. might have a try today with default bios settings and see if the freeze was a one off.

Ill post if i find anything
