M68MT-S2 CPU multiplier problems

M68MT-S2 CPU multiplier problems
« on: March 12, 2012, 07:58:01 pm »
Hello,

I have a M68MT-S2 and a FX-6100. I am trying to overclock my CPU using the CPU multiplier (pressing CTRL+F1).

Now when you click on the list it goes upto x32 however it will only go to x19. If you select anything higher it changes to auto or X7 etc.

This is quite frustrating as I know the CPU will do a lot more. I can overclock it to 4Ghz using the FSB at 212 but cant go any higher, I would rather have a go at seeing how high I can get it just using the cpu multiplier!

The CPU is hardly breaking at sweat at 4Ghz not even going above 30 degrees after hours of playing BF3.

I contacted Gigabyte support and they sent me a new bios FCe (latest one on their website is FB). This fixed one problem - my ram would only run at 1333, it now runs at 1600. However the multiplier still wont go above 19x!

Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi,I have this m/b,Gigabyte GA-M68MT-S2(rev. 3.1) .fb bios.it only supports 95w cpus, the board isn't designed for much above that.I inquired about overclocking my 960t or unlocking cores and was cautioned that due to the design of the board,3-1 vrm's??,it would fry the m/b .I've tried to changed the multiplier on mine nevertheless, with no success, every time I'd boot into windows,it would show the stock multiplier and cpu speed in cpu-z.The only thing I was successful in was unlocking the cores, but I went back to 4 cores ,too afraid to fry the board, lol.

Hi all :)

That chip does not belong on a $40-50 revamped AM2 mobo, Wrecker. Oc'ing on it should be considered very high risk.

Neither of your x6's does but should be ok @ stock,  if the northbridge and vrms stay cool.
