G1.Assassin 2 installing raid driver from usb hdd fails
« on: July 08, 2012, 03:38:18 pm »
Another oddity, I tried to install the raid drivers from a usb 2.5" hdd and hit a problem.
The system could see the drive, I could navigate the drive to the drivers, but after clicking ok, the progress bar just kept scrolling and minutes later it's still scrolling - nothing ever happens.
Unplugging the drive does nothing, there seems to be know way to quit the current operation and try another drive [e.g. flash - which works fine] You have to either power off or press reset and start over.

I've never tried using a usb hdd before - should it work or is flash the only usb that works?

edit:
It did finally give up after a few more mins so I was then able to go back to flash.
Still curious as to wether hdd should work or not.

As far as I know it should work ok on the Intel chip. Make sure that all the USB Legacy settings are enabled in the BIOS though. How is the drive formatted and what size is it ?

Yep, legacy usb is enabled.
The drive is ntfs 500Gb. Could be the ntfs, but then the marvell has no problem with it.
Like I said, you can navigate the drive, but c600 can't read anything from it.
But if that's a limitation of the c600 [fat only] then fair enough.
