GAMA770UD3 not sensing keyboard BIOS does not respond
« on: July 12, 2012, 07:19:58 am »
Hi All, (My PC configuration is below)  ???
I am here with another thread for guys who love their PC but somehow facing a boot issue.
Yesterday my PC was switched off but a thundershower might had hit the PC by the LAN cable through my internet broadcaster.

The effect is :
1. I can see the PC going the pre and post screen in BIOS but freezes there.  :'(
2. After going to post the keyboard remains active for not more than 1 sec. I hit a key it navigates to the direction and freezes.
3. If I hit hard shutdown button it is not responding. Hitting reboot button it seems to shutdown display but CPU remains active (fans running lights glowing ...).
4. I can not flush BIOS.
5. I used CMOS REST, opened battery, restarted but no hope.  :'(
6. But once I saw it went to OS but stops sensing keyboard and mouse.

I am using my office PC to write to you ...
I really need my home PC to activate. Can you guys help me debugging the problem. ::)
I can see GAMA770UD3 has 2 BIOS chip.
So can I flush the BIOS but how as no keyboard is working.

@Gurus (   absic, Dark Mantis ) in my earlier post http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php/topic,6936.msg57797.html#msg57797
you guys helped me to flush the BIOS please help me this time to resolve it.

Regards
NicoX

Hi again.

This is quite a common problem especially with people who connect via a phone line. By the sound of things you have had an EMF from the thunderstorm come through your internet connection although if the storm is close enough it can damage your system without a hard connection.

It would seem that not everything has been damaged though as it dopes start up, so that is a blessing anyway. I would suggest trying an extended clear of the CMOS as a first try.

Remove the power cable from the mains supply and then press the power switch on the case for a few seconds just to drain any residual energy in the PSU capacitors.

Once done remove the motherboard battery  for one at least 5 hours before replacing it.

Next plug back into the mains supply and boot.

You will now need to enter the BIOS by pressing DEL and load Optimised BIOS Defaults.

Make any other changes to the BIOS settings to suit your self like disabling the floppy drive, disabling the full screen logo and making the HDD the primary boot device and then press F10 to save and exit.

Thanks a million Mantis :)
I went the same way. But all comes to vain  ???
I found a chip is damaged. Can not read its no though I can say where it sits n my GAMA770UD3.
If you place a graphics card in GAMA770UD3 the small quard chip just below the card's head (means where it is screwed to the case).
I again think that the BIOS is intact. But some how the HW that controls the I/O connection is disturbed. For that it is sensing the keyboard and mouse for 2 or three sec only.
