Computer keeps restarting on it's own?
« on: August 18, 2012, 12:27:07 am »
GA-B75M-D3V - Rev 1.1 - Bios 6

Now this is odd as the Motherboard boots and shutsdown just fine when using Windows or Linux but if i press the power button to force a power off say for example at windows F8 advanced boot menu the computer shuts down and then restarts again ?

I have to press the power button again and go through this 2 or 3 times until the computer will stay shutdown.

This can't be normal for the new UEFI boards surley?

Very annoying.

Hi,

No not right of course. I would say that it is probably due to the BIOSes, make sure that they both have the same version and it is the latest one. Check that you have Optimise BIOS Defaults loaded as well as any tweaks that you want.

All set to default at the moment with the latest Bios installed.

One thing i've noticed if i hard power off the PC as decribed before in my first post that the keyboard scroll lock light stays on and doesn't go out until i get it to stay shutdown on the 2nd or 3rd press.

DOH!  (Face Palm) problem solved.

I had the Board on a test bench while i was trying to resolve the Bios blank screen problem and was using the above test switch but since i've placed the board back in it's case it's working normally.

Either the latching circuit on the Mobo is very sensitive or it was the way i was clicking it but hey ho it's all working now.  ;D
