GA-ep45-ud3r and cm2x2048-8500c5c 8gb stability issues
« on: September 27, 2012, 12:58:29 am »
I have had this MB for 3 years and ever since purchase i was unable to get the 8GB to be stable.  It was more important to have 4gb at the time that was working so I have not messed with it.  But I could use the 8gb now and want to find out what i can do to get it stable.

Specs:
Intel core2duo e7400 2.8ghz
4 x cm2x2048-8500c5c 8gb corsair memory at 1066mhz
ga-ep45-ud3r rev 1.1
bios 13e ( though i have used 11 and 12 - 13e is the most stable)

nvidia gtx260

I have the default settings for the cpu and memory and have not overclocked it.  Not interested in overclocking.

I have the ram voltage at 2.1v up from the stock 1.8 since that is what the memory is rated at

it has been stable with 4 gigs and i have tested both pairs of the memory and both extremely stable by themselves. just together they cause bsod and random shutdowns.

With 8gb :
I tried upping the mch core to 1.4 from the stock 1.1 and it is not stable.

The default timing for the memory is 5-6-6-16 in the bios but the sticker says it should be 5-6-6-18.  4gb us stable at 16 but with 8 neither 16 or 18 is stable

memtest passes entire passes the first time but usually failes on step 5.  Using memtest 4.2
