does anybody out there have any links to how to put a Q9550.. 'Step by Step'  in a GA-EP45-UD3P. I usually expect things like this are harder than they actually are.

thanks...

I know how to put a CPU on a board, I should have specified I wanted to know if the board set up the BIOS automatically or I had to set the BIOS for the new chip, if so what did I have to do.. to set up the BIOS.. to what settings.

I have the exact same setup. I had a Tuniq Tower on my Q9550 with the UD3P and ran stable at 4ghz, but not advisable for long term if using air cooling.. Full load will hit 70C+, even with 4 120mm case fans blowing. I run mine at 1.68v at 3400mhz most of the time and it'll never hit 50C with sustained full load. I can run mine at 3GHZ/3200mhz at 1.62v and it hovers around 45C full load. If you need tweak settings ill be glad to post them. Im using 4 x 2gb OCZ DDR2 800 OCZ2G8004GK btw.

If you are referring to physically putting the chip in, that is easy. It will only fit one way, put it in clamp it down. Make sure CPU is CLEAN and put a dab of some good thermal compound in the middle of the chip (AS5 is what I use) and attach your CLEAN heatsink/fan. If its stock Intel HS/fan push the 4 cornerside buttons down until they snap into the board, making it secure. Im pretty sure even the earliest version of CMOS firmware will support the Q9550.

Hope this helps.
