GA-MA78LMT-S2 Rev3.4 - Can only get 4GB of 8GB RAM to POST
« on: July 25, 2012, 12:40:35 pm »
I just installed 2X4gb pc3-10600 1333 mhz memory in my machine.  It only posts 4GB.  If I remove one module it shows 2GB.  I went into CMOS and loaded defaults.  I cannot see any configuration options to enable the extra 4GB ram?  Thanks for any help.

Hi and welcome.

I am afraid you don't give us a lot of detail to help answer your problem but the most obvious is that you are running a 32bit operating system. If this is not the case please list your hardware and OS.

Sorry, I am running Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit.  The memory modules and motherboard are above.  The memory modules are not listed in the memory section of the Gigabyte web site - but then a lot of modules are not.  The manual says 2x1.5v DDR3 1333 should work?

I am afraid that you still haven't listed your hardware and so it isn't easy to help you much. The memory is not like back a few years ago when any old RAM would do now it is much more specific. Make sure that the particular memory sticks (?) that you have are compatible with the motherboard by checking the manufacturer's website for their QVL with this motherboard. The fact is that not only do they need to be compatible they also need to be matched el;ectronically together if they are used together as Dual Channel.

If you list more information I will try to help you further.
