We got the computer to POST with a motherboard & CPU & fan and one RAM in one slot and then we were able to POST with RAM in slot 1 and slot 3 (one white, one blue -- which is not which is not what it says to do in the manual but no other RAM configuration worked)
We also posted with the graphics card in place and viewed video out of the graphics card.
Since that test boot worked and we could reach the BIOS, we then we proceeded with the rest of the peripherals; we added a solid state drive a hard drive, USB internal hub port, Wi-Fi card, these

Once we added to the rest of the peripherals attached them to the motherboard and powered them we booted and got the gigabyte splash screen (which is correct since now the hard drive is attached) --but it appears that the USB is no longer working so that the GIGABYTE splash screen comes up and we are unable to navigate anywhere on the screen -- and the caps lock light on the USB keyboard --(usually a good test of USB connection) is not working.
we plugged the keyboard into all the USB ports with no luck.
we are unable to navigate beyond the gigabyte splash screen.
Since that failed -- and the USB is not working,
we stripped the system down to what was working before with the hope of building back up, but now
we cannot recreate the successful post of before with the stripped down system.
as far as we can tell, the USB is not working.
the systems POSTs but it takes significantly longer than the original test boot configuration.
also, the GIGABYTE splash screen appears -- and no working USB.
the question on or mind right now
IS OUR MOTHERBOARD JUNK?
