Z68X-UD3-B3 Can not flash UEFI Update
« on: October 08, 2012, 10:21:46 am »
Hello
I've got a GA-Z68X-UD3-B3, Recently I downloaded and tried to flash the new BIOS but when I launch the file from my hard drive it says "The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an X86 or X64 version of the program"
As you probably know Gigabyte doesnt give a choice for BIOS files.
I've tried running it through @BIOS
I've tried uploading it through Qflash off a USB 2.0 16GB flash drive, it detected the file, started the upload but said something along the lines of the file being corrupt.

Am I missing a step or is this firmware currently not working?

Only with FLASHEFI in USB  bootable DOS  included in file:

UEFI BIOS
(When updating from legacy to UEFI, use only the utility attached to your BIOS file)

So,
you cann't flash with QFlash or @BIOS.
Only with FLASHEFI included in BIOS (7-zip file).

Search forum,as this has been posted many, many times.

Okay so I figured it out.
The issue is that no one takes the time to explain that FLASHEFI is only usable in Windows 98, so what you're doing is booting into Windows 98 from your flash drive, then using command prompts to run the FLASHEFI software.

For future users having the issue.

Follow the instructions in the first Quote box
http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18404556
Then copy and paste the three files, not in a folder, onto the flash drive and then reboot your system, set the boot device priority to the FDD and when "Loading Operating System........." Comes up just let it go for as long as it has too.
If it works correctly you don't have to do anything, it just starts the tool and flashes everything for you.

Yes you are quite correct. I expect that nobody explained it in detail because there are many posts throughout the forum explaining it and so you will have been expected to have searched for it previously. Anyway at least you have managed to get it sorted out in the end.  ;)
