Title: Big Foot Killer Network chip E2400

On my Z170X Gaming G1 motherboard.
Using the 'App center' I checked for any updates, and amongst others, I got the notification that there was another update, which is for the E2500 chip.
 However it would not install, because it appears I have the E2400 chip, why is Gigabyte using their software 'APP Center' giving me a software download for a chip that I don't have ? I was told that this chip is not compatible with my motherboard.
 Also as another niggle, quite a few of the 'apps' available, I can download and install them, but they don't 'stick' because when I reboot, the apps are nowhere to be seen.
I do have 7 installed, but only use perhaps a couple of them, the others are there....just in case I might want to use them.

Or is it just me ? :)

This wouldn't be the first time an automated update app suggested an updated driver incorrectly.  I've seen this happen with other manufacturers as well. 

My recommendation would be not to use App Center to update your device drivers, BIOS, etc.  Once your system / build is stable and working as expected, I'd stay where you are at.  You don't need to have the latest drivers, BIOS, etc for the system to operate "better".  And in fact, it can introduce other issues disrupting a stable system. 

Updates such as these should be performed manually, and only when necessary to address a specific issue or add support.  Windows update will keep your system running optimally.  BIOS and driver updates are only needed in rare cases...  upgrading the CPU, enhanced device support, etc.  You can disable or ignore prompts to update devices in App Center, including if it wants to update itself to the "latest" version.  If its running well (working as expected) leave it alone and enjoy the system.   ;)

 I usually go to the Gigabyte web site for my motherboard, to check the listings there for any updates for Win 7 and Win 10, for stuff I have installed, and then decide whether to update or not.
 Just a little annoying that this APP Centre is designed to easily carry out a search for latest updates to software, but sometimes shows an update that is not applicable for my board.... :)
The only update I have done a couple of months ago, was to update the BIOS from F7 t0 F21, only because I may at some point get a Kaby Lake cpu.
