Title: P35-DS3L E7200 Problems
Post by: Trisomy21 on August 19, 2010, 08:05:38 pm
Having some strange problems with my CPU multiplyer. It's set as 9.5 in the bios so 266 x 9.5 = 2.5GHz however I run CPU-Z
or OCCT and both of them keep reporting a CPU frequency of 1666MHz at 266 x 6....What the?

I think it is because of the EIST in the BIOS. It dynamically reduces the voltage and frequency of the CPU/

Yeah anything that throttles voltages or speeds is disabled...Also using the latest BIOS.

We really need a list of your hardware to have any real idea of what is going on, otherwise we are just flying in the dark.

Well othing there springs out and hits me as to the cause. Were the readings the same on your earlier BIOSes?  Are you overclocking any settings?

No overclocking, I did attempt some but it didn't boot so I reset the bios and put everything back to what it was before. I do notice it
changes between the 6x and 9.5x multiplier when I open programs and such. So it's like EIST is running.....But it's disabled? Ah well, as long as it doesn't throttle me during game play (which has been fine) then I guess I'll just have to live with it.
