Title: GA-MA785GM-UD2H NorthBridge heat question
Post by: timmuk on March 17, 2010, 07:47:07 am
I just bought Gigabyte GA-MA785GM-UD2H motherboard and AMD Phenom II 550 BE processor. In idle NB temperatures are about 37C - 40C but in full load it goes up to 58C - 60C. I tryed unlocking cores of P II 550 and they seemed to work fine in idle. NB temperatures are in idle about 42C - 45C. So i tryed to use Prime95 to check stability of unlocked cores. After 5 minutes of using Prime95 NB temperature went up to 75C. I stopped it there. How much temperature can this motherboard stand. I have read that they can put up with 85C but I am not sure. For better airflow in case i have upper top case fan installed, I am thinking to install 1 more  fan  (front lower). Can u help me?
I am sorry if i posted it in wrong place.
Thank you.

Try adding some better thermal compund to the heatsink , then add an 80mm fan blowing directly on the heatsink.
