Title: gigabyte g31-es2l onboard graphics problem
Post by: debibains2003 on November 08, 2010, 09:00:06 am
HI

I was having intel 102ggc2 motherboard.
intel pentium d processor and 1 gb ram with windows XP OS.
Control panel>System was showing 896 Mb of ram
I think rest of ram was shared with graphics.

Now i got gigabyte g31-es2l  motherboard with same processor , ram and same OS.
Now Control panel>System is showing .99 gb of ram

Graphics are not coming as earlier.
Please help me with this ???

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

This is just a peculiarity of this chipset and nothing to be worried about. Although I would recommend adding more memory if you can as even XP will run a lot better with more then 1GB.

Can you please just check your motherboard's model number as our system doesn't seem to recognise it.

Hi Dm,

maybe it is the GA-G31M-ES2L There are 3 revisions of this board. http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=2889&dl=1#ov

If absic is correct regading the model number then yes it does have onboard graphics and as far as I know the memory for that is allocated dynamically so you don't need to specify a particular amount.

If you are asking how to enable the onboard graphics then you have to go into the BIOS and under the Advanced BIOS Features you will find the section called  Onboard VGA. If you want to use this you can set it to Always enable.

It is all covered in the manual on page 39

Onboard VGA is already set to Always enable

but graphics are not coming gud as it was with 102ggc2

Where can i see in XP that its using the onboard graphics or not ???

there will be no sharing of Ram with graphics in this motherboard ?

If you right click on the desktop and select Properties you can then go to the Display tab and from there you can see what graphics you are using but if you haven't got a GPU installed there is no other than the obnboard option.
As I explained before the memory is shared but is allocated  dynamically as needed.

Are you saying that you are getting no display at all on booting up?

If so have you checked your monitor is connected and working properly?

If you can confirm that the board you have is indeed the GA-G31M-ES2L not the one you have posted and also I need the revision number and then I will post you the link to the drivers.
