Title: GA-X58-USB3 RAM compatibility question.
Post by: Lebon14 on October 18, 2010, 04:14:10 am
Hi.  I will be making a new build soon and I chose the GA-X58-USB3 as my new Core i7 950 host.

However, RAM compatibility is looking limited in the PDF.  So, I was wondering if the Gigabyte forum could help me out in what RAM to choose.  I want 6GB.  This set was my first bet :

So, is this set compatible?  If not, what 6GB 1333MHz do you recommand me?  Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.
I thought at first this was going to be a nice easy one to answer...wrong! I checked on Corsairs website and they don't even list that board for some reason. Also the memory itself is not listed on the Gigabyte QVL either. The RAM you specified should be alright going by the specifications but that is no guarantee. If you want to be 100% safe then use one of the kits that is on the QVL.

Thanks Dark Mantis.  I finally decided to go for the GA-X58A-UD3R which is compatible with my set of RAM.  Thanks for your help.

You are welcome and I think that is a better idea altogether. ;)
